FAQ

FAQs

Mesh refers to the number of openings per linear inch of a sieve and is not a single direct equivalent for the actual size of all particles. For accurate selection, request D50 and D90 values together with the test method.

Sadaf Ground Calcium Carbonate is a mineral powder based on CaCO₃, produced by crushing and grinding selected mineral feedstock. Depending on grade, particle size, whiteness and purity, it may be used as a filler or raw material in construction products, paints, putties, adhesives, plastics and other industrial formulations.

Recommended Applications

  • Putties, adhesives, sealants and dry-mix mortars
  • Paints and coatings, subject to matching particle size, whiteness and oil absorption
  • Polymer compounds and plastic products, using a grade and surface treatment suitable for the formulation
  • Construction products and engineered mineral components
  • General industrial applications where purity and particle-size distribution have been confirmed

Key Benefits and Properties

  • Light colour that can support the appearance and coverage of a formulation
  • Helps adjust texture, consistency and formulation cost as a mineral filler
  • Good chemical stability in many normal environments, with due consideration for acid sensitivity
  • Potential availability in different particle-size grades, subject to production capability
  • Can help control the mechanical and rheological properties of the finished product after formulation and testing

Application Guidelines

  1. Test a sample in the customer's actual formulation before full-scale production and optimise dispersion parameters.
  2. Add the powder gradually to the mix using suitable dust-control measures.
  3. Determine dosage, mixing speed, mixing time and order of addition according to the required rheology and target properties.

Limitations and Non-Recommended Uses

  • No single grade is suitable for every industry; requirements for paints, plastics, adhesives and construction products differ.
  • The product may react with acids and release carbon dioxide; formulation compatibility must be checked.
  • Claims such as food-grade, pharmaceutical-grade or suitable for food contact may be used only for grades supported by the relevant regulatory documentation.

Packaging, Storage and Handling

  • Available in bags, bulk bags or bulk delivery, depending on the grade and order requirements.
  • Store in a clean, dry area and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Fine grades should be unloaded and transferred using an effective dust-collection system.
  • Reseal opened packaging and retain the batch number for traceability.

Safety

Prevent dust generation and inhalation. Wear safety goggles and respiratory protection appropriate to the workplace risk assessment. Calcium carbonate reacts with acids; avoid uncontrolled storage or mixing with acidic materials. Refer to the grade-specific SDS for full hazard and first-aid information.
